Raiza earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Mary Washington and her Master's in Natural Resources from Virginia Tech. Before joining the Miller School of Albemarle in September 2008, she taught for two years in Northern Virginia in the public sector. She truly enjoys the small class sizes and the intimacy the Miller School of Albemarle offers.

Raiza relocated to Charlottesville in August 2008 after marrying her husband, Tom. Tom is currently a medical and PhD student at the University of Virginia. Together, they enjoy cycling, skiing, scuba diving, and photography.
