Kim came to Miller in the summer of 2010 to become Communications Coordinator; running Miller School of Albemarle's web site, blog and photo sites. She also takes many of the photos seen on these sites and hopes that students and their families enjoy them.
In addition, Kim leads the school's Arboretum Service Group, which began with the 2010-2011 school year. The group works to identify and label the trees on Miller's 1,600 acre campus with the help of local garden club members. A map has been created so that visitors interested in fauna can tour the campus with the help of the tree identification map.
In the 2011-2012 school year the group is planning to add an herb garden to campus. The garden will help teach not only good gardening practices, but also the useful properties of plants, and help to supply the kitchens with fresh herbs and flowers.
In additon to being Miller's Communications Coordinator, Kim also does quite a lot of drawing; her illustrations appear in over 60 books and publications, the drawings themselves numbering in the thousands.
But her greatest adventure has been the adoption of her two daughters from China, Liliana, 11 and Meika, 5. The three live with their two dogs, two potbelly pigs and cat in Louisa. |
