James joined the Miller School of Albemarle as a full time faculty member in July of 2005. He has been girls basketball coach here at MSA since the 2003-2004 basketball season. James is a graduate of Averett University, Class of 1992, with a B.A. in Sociology. While attending Averett, James was a four year starter on Averett's basketball team, and was inducted into the Averett University Athletic Hall of Fame on October 13, 2000, for his accomplishments on the court. Prior to working at MSA, James was employed by Piedmont Regional Educational Program as a Teacher/Management Specialist from 1997-2005. He also coached in the Albemarle County Public School system as an Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach during his tenure at Piedmont Regional Educational Program.

James loves to spend time with his family, which includes his wife Natasha, daughters Syriah, Presleigh, and Parker, and a son, Christian. James enjoys playing softball and traveling with his family.
