Debbie Casado joined the Miller School of Albemarle faculty to teach Spanish in 2000, having left the Stuart Hall School where she served as Dean of Students and a member of the Spanish faculty.  Prior to her ten-year tenure at Stuart Hall, Debbie taught third grade at the Escuela Campo Alegre, the American School in Caracas, Venezuela, for ten years.  She received her undergraduate degree in Language and Linguistics from the Universidad Metropolitana de Caracas in 1981, and continued her graduate work in Education at James Madison University.

A native of Staunton, Virginia, Debbie lived for three years in New York City working in a patent law firm.  She and her husband moved to Caracas where she lived for twenty years.  At the Miller School of Albemarle, Debbie serves as the Faculty Chair of the Honor Committee.  She, along with Mr. Ross, guides the seniors in preparation for their senior chapel talks.  She has also been Chair of the Language Department and Girls Tennis Coach.

Debbie enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and two cats, Fred and Butterscotch.  She has two daughters, Cristina and Susana.
