Born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, Connie graduated from Longwood College and taught in the Botetourt County School System for two years, after which she married her “Virginia Gentleman” and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. Connie taught for many years in the Albemarle County School System, all the while taking graduate classes at the University of Virginia with an emphasis on reading instruction. After the birth of her two sons, she worked for six years with UVA for the Virginia State Department of Education with the Beginning Teachers’ Assistance Program. Teaching preschool in the Charlottesville area is something Connie also enjoyed while her children were growing up.
Connie came to work at Miller School in 2002 managing the library and study halls as well as providing remedial reading, research and study skills instruction to small groups and individual students. Connie also serves as the Faculty Chairman of the Discipline Review Board. She loves her job and looks forward to interactions everyday with the professional faculty and staff and the intelligent, caring teenagers found in the Miller School Community.
In her spare time, Connie enjoys reading, cooking, music, hiking, traveling and spending as much time as possible with friends and family. Her grown sons, Rob and Michael, continue to be a source of pride and amusement! |
